The music industry is an ever evolving beast…sure there are noticeable changes that we can all see, such as the progression from vinyl, to cassette, to laserdisc and CD and then back to vinyl like some sort of, musical ‘Rock / Paper / Scissors’…but there are changes behind the scenes too that the average consumer may not see or not be so aware of. Record labels are changing the way they operate and ultimately handle bands; streaming became a massive thing (Dividing opinions in the process) fan-direct services sprouted such as Go Fund Me and Pledge campaigns…and essentially it’s becoming easier for people to not only access music, but create and share music too. The question is though, with all this ease of access for bands to work more and more independently, where does that leave the industry middle-men?
